179 Agniveers Inducted into Indian Army at 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Shillong

The 58 Gorkha Training Centre (GTC), Shillong, under the aegis of Eastern Command, conducted the Kasam Samaroh for the 8th Batch of Agniveers in a solemn military ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the journey of the young recruits.

The parade was reviewed by Brigadier Joe Sabby, Commandant, 58 Gorkha Training Centre, who inspected the contingent and congratulated the Agniveers on successfully completing their training and joining the ranks of the Indian Army.

A total of 179 Agniveers took the solemn oath of allegiance to the Constitution of India, formally marking their induction into military service. The ceremony reflected the values of discipline, patriotism and commitment that form the foundation of the Indian Army.

The Kasam Samaroh showcased impressive standards of military bearing, drill and professionalism, highlighting the rigorous training imparted at the training centre. The young soldiers demonstrated their readiness to embrace the responsibilities of military service and uphold the highest traditions of the Armed Forces.

The newly inducted Agniveers represented India’s rich diversity, drawing strength from different regions, religions, languages and cultures while being united by a common commitment to serve the nation.

Addressing the soldiers, senior officers encouraged them to uphold the enduring values of honour, duty, courage and selfless service throughout their military careers. They were urged to remain dedicated to the constitutional principles they had pledged to protect and uphold.

Eastern Command extended its best wishes to the Agniveers as they embark on a challenging and rewarding journey in service of the nation. Officials noted that the ceremony symbolised not only the completion of military training but also the beginning of a lifelong commitment to safeguarding India’s sovereignty and security.

The event concluded with a sense of pride and accomplishment as the newly inducted soldiers stepped forward to join the ranks of the Indian Army, carrying with them the spirit of discipline, dedication and unwavering commitment to the nation.
