In a bid to inspire future leaders and promote maritime awareness among the youth, 44 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets accompanied by two staff members from the Ladakh region visited INS Dega, the Indian Navy’s premier naval air station in Visakhapatnam, on 11 June 2026.
During the visit, the cadets were briefed on the various aircraft operated from the naval air station and gained valuable insights into their roles, capabilities and contribution to maritime security operations. The interaction provided the young visitors with a deeper understanding of the operational aspects of Naval Aviation and the critical role it plays in safeguarding India’s maritime interests.

The cadets also toured the Air Traffic Services Tower, where they received a firsthand glimpse into the complexities of air traffic management and the coordination required to support safe and efficient aviation operations.
A key highlight of the visit was the opportunity to interact with Indian Navy personnel, including officers and sailors. The cadets learned about life in uniform, the values of discipline and service, and the diverse career opportunities available within the Indian Navy.
The exposure visit offered the cadets a unique opportunity to witness the functioning of a major naval aviation establishment and gain practical insights into military aviation and maritime operations.

Officials noted that such engagements play an important role in nurturing leadership qualities, broadening horizons and encouraging young minds to consider careers in the Armed Forces.
The visit concluded with the cadets expressing enthusiasm and appreciation for the experience, which not only enhanced their understanding of Naval Aviation but also fostered greater maritime consciousness and awareness of India’s maritime security responsibilities.
The initiative reflects the Indian Navy’s continued commitment to youth outreach and inspiring the next generation of leaders through meaningful interaction and exposure to the service’s operational capabilities.
