Lieutenant General Madanraj Pande assumed command of the Fire & Fury Corps from Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla during a ceremonial change of command held in Leh on 30 June 2026.
The change of command marks a seamless transition of leadership at the strategically important Corps, which is responsible for safeguarding India’s frontiers in the challenging high-altitude region of Ladakh.
On the occasion, the outgoing Corps Commander, Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, expressed his appreciation to all ranks for their professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment during his tenure. He lauded the troops for their steadfast service and contributions towards maintaining operational readiness in one of the country’s most demanding operational environments.
Assuming command, Lt Gen Madanraj Pande exhorted all personnel to continue upholding the highest traditions, values and ethos of the Indian Army while remaining committed to the service of the nation. He emphasised the importance of maintaining the Corps’ high standards of operational preparedness, professionalism and vigilance.
The leadership transition reaffirms the Indian Army’s commitment to ensuring continuity in command, operational excellence and unwavering readiness along India’s northern frontiers.
