CISC Air Marshal Tejinder Singh Visits MCTE Mhow, Reviews Niche Technology and Innovation Initiatives

Senior tri-services commander lauds collaborative efforts in technological innovation and emphasises professionalism in military capability development.

Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, Chief of Integrated Staff Committee (CISC), visited the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow, on July 18, 2026, to review the institution’s ongoing initiatives in niche technologies, innovation and capability development. The visit highlighted the Indian Armed Forces’ sustained emphasis on fostering technological excellence and strengthening collaborative partnerships with academia, start-ups and government agencies to build future-ready military capabilities.

During the visit, Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi, Commandant of MCTE, provided a comprehensive briefing on the institution’s efforts towards the infusion of niche technologies and the development of innovative solutions designed to address the evolving requirements of contemporary military operations. The briefing underscored MCTE’s growing role as a centre of excellence in military communications, information technology and emerging defence technologies.

The Commandant highlighted several technology-driven initiatives being undertaken in collaboration with academia, start-ups and various government organisations. Such partnerships continue to play a pivotal role in accelerating innovation within the defence ecosystem by leveraging multidisciplinary expertise and facilitating the rapid development of indigenous technological capabilities. The collaborative approach aligns closely with the broader national vision of promoting self-reliance and strengthening India’s defence innovation ecosystem.

The Military College of Telecommunication Engineering has consistently remained at the forefront of technological advancement within the Indian Army by imparting specialised military education and developing future-ready capabilities across domains such as communications, information technology, cyber systems and emerging military technologies. Its continued emphasis on innovation reflects the Indian Armed Forces’ commitment to adapting to the rapidly evolving character of warfare.

Air Marshal Tejinder Singh reviewed the institution’s efforts towards integrating niche technologies into military training and capability development programmes. He commended their sustained efforts towards nurturing specialised expertise and developing solutions that contribute meaningfully to the operational preparedness of the Armed Forces.

The Air Marshal further highlighted that future military success will depend not only upon technological superiority but also upon the ability to rapidly absorb emerging technologies and integrate them effectively into operational concepts and military training frameworks. Sustained investments in professional military education and innovation therefore remain fundamental to building future-ready Armed Forces.

The visit also reaffirmed the growing importance of tri-services cooperation in advancing technological capabilities and promoting institutional excellence across the defence establishment. As the headquarters responsible for fostering jointness and integration among the Armed Forces, the Integrated Defence Staff continues to play an important role in strengthening collaborative approaches towards capability development and military transformation.
