Lt Gen Mohit Malhotra Reviews Operational Preparedness of Gandiv Division at Lalgarh Jattan Military Station

South Western Army Commander commends troops for professionalism, capability development and innovative practices aimed at building a future-ready force.

Lieutenant General Mohit Malhotra, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Indian Army’s South Western Command, visited Lalgarh Jattan Military Station to review the operational and administrative readiness of the Gandiv Division. The visit underscored the Indian Army’s sustained focus on maintaining high standards of combat preparedness, organisational efficiency and technological adaptation in response to evolving operational requirements.

During the visit, Lt Gen Mohit Malhotra was briefed on the formation’s operational preparedness, administrative capabilities and ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing mission effectiveness. The review encompassed measures being undertaken to strengthen capability development, improve operational responsiveness and ensure sustained readiness across the division’s areas of responsibility.

The Army Commander assessed the formation’s preparedness to address both present and emerging security challenges, highlighting the importance of maintaining robust operational frameworks supported by efficient administrative systems. Modern military operations increasingly demand seamless integration between combat capabilities and organisational resilience, making sustained investments in both domains critical to operational success.

Lt Gen Malhotra commended the officers, junior leaders and troops of the Gandiv Division for their exceptionally high morale, professionalism and unwavering commitment to duty. He acknowledged the formation’s continued efforts in maintaining the highest standards of military excellence while adapting to the changing character of contemporary warfare.

Particular appreciation was extended towards the division’s capability development initiatives that are contributing significantly towards strengthening operational effectiveness. The Indian Army continues to prioritise capability enhancement through realistic training methodologies, technological integration and the adoption of future-oriented operational concepts designed to preserve combat superiority across diverse operational environments.

The Army Commander also lauded the innovative practices being implemented by the formation to improve operational outcomes and optimise military preparedness. Innovation remains a key pillar of the Indian Army’s transformation agenda, enabling formations to adopt modern technologies and adaptive approaches that enhance both efficiency and combat effectiveness.

Lt Gen Mohit Malhotra emphasised that the development of a future-ready force requires continuous learning, technological adaptability and a commitment to professional excellence at every level of command. He highlighted the importance of fostering an organisational culture that encourages innovation and embraces transformational initiatives aimed at strengthening operational capabilities in an increasingly complex security landscape.

The review also reflected the South Western Command’s continued emphasis on building agile and responsive military formations capable of effectively addressing evolving operational challenges. Capability development programmes focused on mission readiness, technological advancement and leadership excellence remain integral to the Command’s broader modernisation objectives.

Interacting with the troops, the Army Commander appreciated their dedication and encouraged them to continue pursuing excellence in military training and professional development. He reiterated that high morale, operational discipline and adaptability remain indispensable attributes of successful military organisations in both conventional and emerging domains of warfare.
