Rashtriya Military School Dholpur celebrated its 64th Raising Day on July 16, 2026, with grandeur, patriotic fervour and a renewed commitment to nurturing disciplined military leaders and responsible nation builders. The celebrations brought together cadets, faculty members, parents, alumni, serving and retired Army officers and other distinguished guests to commemorate more than six decades of the institution’s contribution to education, character-building and national service.
Major General Surinder Kumar Dhawan, VSM (Retired), an illustrious alumnus from the first batch of the school, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. His presence added special significance to the occasion, symbolising the enduring bond between the institution and generations of cadets who have passed through its portals since its establishment in 1962.
A major highlight of the Raising Day programme was the Investiture Ceremony for the 2026–27 academic session. Selected cadets were formally entrusted with leadership responsibilities, reflecting the school’s emphasis on developing confidence, discipline, teamwork and accountability from an early age. The newly appointed cadet leaders were encouraged to discharge their duties with integrity, fairness and dedication while setting a positive example for their fellow students.
The programme also featured cultural performances showcasing India’s rich heritage and diversity. Cadets presented patriotic and traditional performances that added colour and enthusiasm to the occasion. Annual house awards were presented in recognition of excellence in academics, sports, discipline, cultural activities and other fields. A ceremonial cake-cutting was also held in the presence of the Chief Guest, officers, alumni, faculty members, parents and cadets.
Addressing the gathering, Maj Gen Surinder Kumar Dhawan recalled his formative years at Rashtriya Military School Dholpur and shared memories from the institution’s early days. As a member of the school’s first batch, he offered a unique perspective on its journey from a newly established institution to one of India’s leading residential military schools.
He applauded the remarkable transformation of RMS Dholpur over the past six decades and commended the institution for preserving its core military values while adapting to changing educational requirements. He urged the cadets to imbibe the timeless values of discipline, integrity, resilience and selfless service.
Maj Gen Dhawan reminded the cadets that success was not determined by academic achievement alone, but also by strength of character, a sense of duty and the willingness to serve others. He observed that the school had consistently produced leaders who had served the nation with honour in the Armed Forces and in several other professions.

Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Amit Sharma, VSM, Principal of RMS Dholpur, highlighted the institution’s progressive transformation in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020. He stated that the school had successfully integrated contemporary educational practices with its long-standing emphasis on military discipline, leadership and character development.
The curriculum now includes skill education, experiential learning, adventure activities, community service, study excursions and technology-enabled classroom instruction. These initiatives are aimed at ensuring the holistic development of cadets and preparing them to meet the academic, professional and social challenges of the future.

The Principal emphasised that modern education must extend beyond textbooks and examinations. Cadets, he said, must be provided with opportunities to think critically, solve problems, work in teams and develop practical skills relevant to a rapidly changing world. Adventure training and community service activities also help students build courage, empathy, adaptability and social responsibility.
Lt Col (Dr) Amit Sharma also highlighted the significant infrastructure development undertaken at the school. The institution has strengthened its academic facilities, sports infrastructure and technology-enabled learning environment to provide cadets with a modern and comprehensive educational experience.
RMS Dholpur continues to place strong emphasis on sports, physical fitness and outdoor training, which form an integral part of life at the institution. These facilities enable cadets to participate in competitive sports while developing endurance, confidence and team spirit.
The Principal also showcased the school’s recent achievements in academics, sports and competitive examinations. Cadets of RMS Dholpur have delivered noteworthy performances in national-level shooting competitions, demonstrating discipline, concentration and technical proficiency.
The school has also earned recognition in the School Games Federation of India Boxing Championships and the Inter Rashtriya Military Schools Pentangular Meet. The consistent success of its cadets in these competitions reflects the structured training, professional coaching and dedicated mentorship provided by the institution.
RMS Dholpur has continued to perform strongly in the National Defence Academy Written Examination and the Services Selection Board process. Faculty members provide academic guidance, personality development support and structured mentoring to help students develop the qualities required for officer selection.
Preparation at the school is not confined to examinations alone. Cadets are encouraged to develop leadership ability, communication skills, situational awareness, physical fitness and a strong sense of responsibility. The school’s consistent results in NDA and SSB selection reflect its founding purpose of developing future military leaders.
