The Southern Naval Command (SNC) hosted the Annual Afloat Awards Function 2026 in Kochi, recognising the operational excellence, combat efficiency and professional standards of Indian Navy warships.
Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Southern Naval Command, presented trophies to ships that demonstrated outstanding performance across various operational domains during the past year.

INS Sharda was awarded the prestigious Best Ship trophy in recognition of its exceptional operational performance, while INS Shardul received the Most Spirited Ship award for displaying exemplary professionalism, teamwork and operational commitment.

The annual awards highlight the Indian Navy’s continued emphasis on operational excellence, combat readiness and the pursuit of the highest standards of professionalism in safeguarding India’s maritime interests.
