AASHRAY, a dedicated accommodation facility for Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad, was inaugurated on August 28, 2026, as part of the institution’s continuing welfare initiatives.
The facility comprises 16 newly renovated and fully furnished guest rooms located at the JCOs Club, MCEME. It has been conceived as a welfare measure to provide comfortable, convenient and dignified accommodation to JCOs and their families during temporary stays and visits to the station.
Lt Gen Neeraj Varshney, AVSM, VSM, Commandant, MCEME and Colonel Commandant, Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), inaugurated the facility.
AASHRAY has been developed with the objective of providing a welcoming environment for JCOs and their families while they are away from their regular place of posting. The facility is intended to make temporary stays at the station more convenient and comfortable.
The availability of dedicated guest rooms is expected to provide practical support to JCOs visiting MCEME for official, training or personal requirements, while also ensuring suitable accommodation for accompanying family members.
The initiative reflects the importance accorded to the welfare of JCOs and their families within the Armed Forces. By providing quality accommodation facilities, AASHRAY seeks to strengthen the sense of care, belonging and institutional support extended to personnel and their families.
The facility also contributes towards improving the overall quality of life of serving personnel by addressing an important aspect of their welfare during temporary stays.
The inauguration of AASHRAY highlights MCEME’s continued focus on personnel welfare alongside its core responsibilities of training, professional development and capability enhancement for the Corps of EME.
The initiative reinforces the ethos of putting people and their families at the centre of welfare measures, ensuring that JCOs visiting the station have access to a comfortable and supportive environment.
With its 16 renovated and furnished guest rooms, AASHRAY is set to serve as a home away from home for JCOs and their families, strengthening the bond of care, welfare and belonging within the military community.
