Brigadier Rajeev S. Nair, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram, visited Sainik School Kazhakootam on 1 August 2026 to review the institution’s National Cadet Corps (NCC) activities and interact with the faculty and cadets.
The senior officer was warmly received by Colonel Abhishek Vohra, Principal of Sainik School Kazhakootam, along with Wing Commander M. Rajkumar, Vice Principal, Commander Abraham Philip, Administrative Officer, Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) and the staff of the school’s NCC Company.

During the visit, Brig Rajeev S. Nair interacted with the school’s leadership and reviewed the various initiatives being undertaken to promote leadership development, discipline and character building through NCC training. The discussions focused on the important role played by the National Cadet Corps in shaping responsible, confident and patriotic young citizens prepared to contribute to the nation.
The Group Commander appreciated the school’s consistent commitment to nurturing leadership qualities, discipline and national values among its cadets through a well-structured NCC programme. He commended the efforts of the faculty, Associate NCC Officers and staff in providing meaningful training and mentorship that prepares students for future leadership roles, including careers in the Armed Forces.
Sainik School Kazhakootam has long been recognised for its contribution to preparing young students for entry into the National Defence Academy and other defence services, with the NCC serving as an integral component of its holistic leadership and character development programme.

The visit reaffirmed the close partnership between the National Cadet Corps and Sainik Schools in developing future leaders imbued with the values of discipline, patriotism, selfless service and national commitment. It also highlighted the continued emphasis on strengthening youth development through quality NCC training and leadership education.
