Commodore Sarvdeep Singh Dhody assumed command of INS Kalinga and took over as the Station Commander, Naval Station Bheemunipatnam, from Commodore Anirudha Roy at a formal Change of Command Ceremony held at INS Kalinga on 10 August 2026.
The Change of Command marked the formal transfer of responsibility for the establishment, with Commodore Dhody taking charge of its operational readiness, administration and overall functioning. The ceremony marked an important transition in the leadership of INS Kalinga and Naval Station Bheemunipatnam.
A specialist in Radio Frequency (RF) Design, Commodore Sarvdeep Singh Dhody brings extensive experience across operational, training and technical appointments. His professional career has provided him with exposure to a wide range of responsibilities associated with naval operations, technology and personnel development.
In his new appointment, Commodore Dhody will oversee the establishment’s operational preparedness and administrative functioning while ensuring that personnel and resources remain aligned with the operational requirements of the Indian Navy.
INS Kalinga plays an important role in supporting the Navy’s operational and technical requirements on the eastern seaboard. The station’s activities encompass operational preparedness, training, administration and support functions essential to maintaining naval readiness.
The assumption of command by Commodore Dhody comes with the responsibility of sustaining established standards while further strengthening operational efficiency and professional preparedness within the establishment.
The formal ceremony also marked the conclusion of Commodore Anirudha Roy’s tenure as the Station Commander. The change reflects the Indian Navy’s established tradition of leadership transitions and continuity in command responsibilities.
