Lieutenant General Balakrishnan Jayan, Director General Dental Services (DGDS) and Colonel Commandant, Army Dental Corps, visited the 16 Corps Dental Unit on his maiden visit and reviewed the unit’s operational preparedness, infrastructure and healthcare delivery capabilities.
During the visit, Lt Gen Jayan inspected the unit’s Key Location Plan (KLP) and appreciated its strategic positioning and suitability for future expansion. He highlighted the importance of maintaining robust dental support infrastructure to meet the healthcare requirements of personnel deployed in challenging operational environments.
The DGDS commended the unit for its discipline, teamwork and commitment towards providing quality dental care to serving personnel. He appreciated the efforts of the dental team in ensuring timely and effective treatment while maintaining high professional standards.
Interacting with the personnel, Lt Gen Jayan emphasised the importance of adopting evidence-based treatment protocols and maintaining excellence in military dental healthcare. He stressed the need for continuous professional development, structured mentorship and knowledge-sharing practices to further enhance the capabilities of dental personnel.
He also highlighted the importance of ensuring doorstep delivery of dental care to troops deployed in forward areas. Providing accessible and timely healthcare support to soldiers operating in remote and challenging locations remains a key priority of the Army Dental Corps.
Lt Gen Jayan underscored that maintaining the health and readiness of soldiers is directly linked to operational effectiveness. He encouraged the unit to continue its efforts towards delivering comprehensive dental services while ensuring optimum operational readiness.
The visit reaffirmed the Army Dental Corps’ commitment to strengthening military healthcare support, improving patient care standards and ensuring that troops receive specialised medical assistance wherever they are deployed.
