Lt Gen Harsh Chhibber, AVSM, VSM, PhD, Director General Information Systems, delivered a lecture at Headquarters Western Command on digital and Artificial Intelligence transformation in the Indian Army, engaging with officers and future military leaders on the evolving role of technology in modern warfare.
The session was chaired by Lt Gen H S Sahi, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, Chief of Staff, Western Command, and focused on the growing importance of emerging technologies in enhancing operational effectiveness, decision-making and preparedness for future security challenges.

Lt Gen Harsh Chhibber highlighted the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies in military operations. He discussed the need to harness these capabilities across different functional areas to improve efficiency, situational awareness and operational outcomes.
The DG Information Systems also outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at embedding AI across various facets of the Indian Army. The integration of advanced technologies is intended to support faster decision-making, optimise processes and strengthen the Army’s ability to respond to an increasingly complex and technology-driven battlespace.

The interaction also provided future leaders with an opportunity to gain insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with digital transformation. Emphasis was placed on developing technologically adept personnel who can effectively integrate emerging capabilities with existing operational systems.
