The MoU was signed by Mrs Laila Swaminathan, President, NWWA, and Commodore VK Jha, Commodore (Naval Welfare), Indian Navy, with Saarathee CRM Pvt Ltd. The collaboration seeks to provide structured support to eligible individuals through skill development, career guidance and employment placement assistance.

The initiative represents a significant step towards enabling Persons with Disabilities associated with the naval community to develop relevant professional skills and access meaningful career opportunities.

Under the partnership, emphasis will be placed on identifying suitable employment pathways based on individual capabilities and career aspirations. Skill development and career counselling are expected to help participants become better prepared for employment while placement support will assist them in connecting with appropriate opportunities.

For Persons with Disabilities, access to employment can often depend not only on qualifications but also on availability of suitable training, workplace accessibility, career counselling and connections with inclusive employers. Partnerships that bring these elements together can therefore play an important role in improving long-term professional opportunities.

The collaboration also reflects a broader approach to welfare that extends beyond immediate assistance and focuses on building individual capabilities and economic independence.

NWWA has been involved in various welfare and community-oriented initiatives supporting naval personnel and their families. Through programmes covering education, professional development, welfare and empowerment, the organisation works to strengthen the wider naval community.

The latest MoU expands this approach by placing a specific focus on Persons with Disabilities and helping them develop skills that can translate into employment opportunities.

Career guidance will form another important component of the initiative. Individual counselling and professional guidance can help candidates understand available career options, identify suitable roles and prepare themselves for recruitment processes.

Placement support is expected to complement these efforts by helping bridge the gap between trained candidates and prospective employment opportunities. Such an integrated approach—from skill development to career guidance and placement—can provide participants with a clearer pathway towards professional and financial independence.

The initiative also highlights the importance of collaboration between welfare organisations and specialised private-sector partners in addressing employment challenges faced by Persons with Disabilities.

By combining the outreach and welfare framework of the naval community with specialised skill development and employment support, the partnership aims to establish a practical mechanism through which beneficiaries can pursue sustainable careers.

The signing of the MoU reinforces the Indian Navy and NWWA’s emphasis on creating an inclusive and supportive environment for the wider naval fraternity.

Through the partnership with Saarathee CRM Pvt Ltd, NWWA aims to ensure that Persons with Disabilities from the naval community receive opportunities to strengthen their skills, explore appropriate career options and access placement support, enabling them to participate more effectively and independently in the workforce.
