The Office of the Directorate General Assam Rifles (DGAR), Shillong, has invited applications from eligible male Indian citizens for the Assam Rifles Technical and Tradesman Recruitment Rally 2026. The drive covers Warrant Officer, Havildar and Rifleman ranks across multiple trades on an all-India basis, with no state-wise quota. Vacancy Position
The 354 posts are distributed as 219 Rifleman, 129 Warrant Officer and 6 Havildar vacancies. Category-wise totals are SC 53, ST 25, OBC 97, EWS 34 and UR 145. A 10 per cent horizontal reservation for Ex-Servicemen applies in specified trades. If suitable ESM candidates are not available, those vacancies may be filled by non-ESM candidates of the respective categories.

Eligibility
Only male Indian citizens may apply. A valid domicile or Permanent Residential Certificate issued by the competent State or Union Territory authority is required. The state of domicile declared in the application cannot be changed later.
Age as on 1 July 2026
- Rifleman and Havildar trades: 18 to 23 years
- Warrant Officer trades: 18 to 25 years
Relaxations apply as follows: OBC (non-creamy layer) three years; SC/ST five years. For Ex-Servicemen, military service is first deducted from actual age, after which UR candidates receive three years, OBC six years and SC/ST eight years. Departmental candidates may be considered up to 40 years, subject to rules. Only the name and date of birth recorded on the matriculation certificate are accepted.
Educational qualifications vary by trade. In brief:
- Warrant Officer (Cipher): 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics and English plus a minimum two-year NSQF Level 4+ ITI course in a relevant field, or a bachelor’s degree in Electronics or ICT.
- Most Rifleman technical trades: Class 10 plus a two-year ITI certificate or a two/three-year diploma in the relevant trade.
- Store Keeper Technical (EME): Class 10.
- Draughtsman: 10+2 and a three-year diploma in Architectural Assistantship.
- Operation Theatre Technician and Physiotherapist: 10+2, a minimum two-year diploma, and at least one year of relevant work experience in a recognised hospital of 50 beds or more.
- Mason: Class 10, plus self-certified work experience of at least one year and success in the trade test.
- Recovery Vehicle Mechanic: Class 10, two-year ITI in the trade, and a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle or Transport Vehicle driving licence.
Candidates must verify the exact trade-wise qualitative requirements in the official notification before applying.
Application Fee
UR, OBC and EWS candidates must pay ₹100 (non-refundable), online or through SBI challan. SC, ST and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempt. Only one application per candidate is permitted.
Selection Process
Selection comprises the following stages:
- RFID-based Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test
- Documentation
- Computer-Based Test of 100 marks (minimum qualifying marks: 35 per cent for General/EWS and 33 per cent for SC/ST/OBC)
- Qualifying Trade Skill Test (computer-based and practical), with candidates shortlisted from the CBT at approximately four times the number of vacancies
- Detailed Medical Examination, with Review Medical Examination for those declared unfit
- Final merit list prepared on CBT marks, subject to qualifying all other stages
Physical standards (male) include height of 170 cm for the general category (with regional and ST relaxations of 165 cm and 162.5 cm respectively) and corresponding chest measurements. PET requires a 5 km run in 24 minutes for candidates from all regions except Ladakh, where the standard is 1.6 km in 7 minutes. Weight must be proportionate to height and age. PET is qualifying in nature.
Pay and allowances will be as admissible to Assam Rifles personnel under the Seventh Central Pay Commission, generally corresponding to Level 3 for Rifleman, Level 4 for Havildar and Level 5 for Warrant Officer.

Candidates should register with a valid email address and mobile number, select the correct trade and category, enter particulars exactly as they appear on the matriculation certificate, upload the prescribed documents, pay the fee where applicable, and retain a printed copy of the submitted form.
Documents typically required include the matriculation certificate, educational and trade certificates, domicile or PRC, caste or EWS certificate (EWS for FY 2025-26 based on FY 2024-25 income), driving licence where applicable, experience certificates for specified trades, fee receipt, and NOC for departmental candidates.
