The Naval Weapons & Missile Technology Course (NW&MTC)-66 has commenced at the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT), Pune, bringing together officers from the Indian Navy and Friendly Foreign Countries for specialised training in contemporary naval weapons and missile technologies.
A total of 30 officers are participating in the course, including 17 officers from the Indian Navy and 13 officers representing six Friendly Foreign Countries. The programme is aimed at enhancing professional knowledge and providing participants with an understanding of modern naval weapon systems, missile technologies and the rapidly changing technological landscape of maritime warfare.
Addressing the officers at the commencement of the course, Major General Naveen Thapliyal, Commandant, MILIT, emphasised the importance of remaining aware of global developments and emerging conflicts that are influencing the nature of modern warfare.
He highlighted the need for military professionals to keep pace with contemporary weapon systems as well as rapidly evolving technologies and counter-technologies that are increasingly shaping the future capabilities of defence forces.
During his interaction with the participating officers, Maj Gen Thapliyal also stressed the importance of innovation, critical thinking and technological adaptability in responding to evolving maritime security challenges.
The participation of officers from six Friendly Foreign Countries also provides a platform for professional interaction and exchange of perspectives alongside the technical curriculum.
MILIT, Pune, is a tri-services training institution that conducts advanced technology-oriented courses for officers of the Indian Armed Forces as well as personnel from Friendly Foreign Countries. The commencement of NW&MTC-66 reinforces the focus on preparing military professionals to understand and adapt to increasingly sophisticated weapons and missile technologies in the maritime domain.
