Amroha, September 24, 2026: Four security personnel — two from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and two from the Uttar Pradesh Police — have been arrested for the alleged gangrape of a 23-year-old woman from Haryana at a farmhouse in the Hasanpur area of Amroha district.
The woman, a resident of Fatehabad in Haryana, alleged that she was lured to Uttar Pradesh on the pretext of visiting religious places. According to Amroha Superintendent of Police Lakhan Singh Yadav, a female acquaintance contacted her on September 20 and asked her to meet CRPF Inspector Mohit, a resident of Saurang village in Muzaffarnagar district.
She met Mohit in Sonipat on September 21. The two then travelled to Meerut, where they were joined by CRPF Head Constable Lalaram Yadav, a resident of Alwar in Rajasthan. On the evening of September 22, Mohit and Yadav took the woman by car towards Hasanpur and picked up Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Tomar, posted at Hasanpur police station, on the way.
The group proceeded to a farmhouse on the Atrasi-Hasanpur road, where two rooms were rented. Uttar Pradesh Police Head Constable Pramod, also posted at Hasanpur police station, allegedly arranged food and liquor for them. The woman alleged that Mohit, Lalaram Yadav and Sanjay Tomar raped her. She further stated that Pramod later entered the room and attempted to assault her, but she resisted, pushed him out and locked the door.
Around 6 a.m. on September 23, the woman searched online for the police helpline number and contacted the authorities. Teams from Hasanpur and Rajabpur police stations reached the farmhouse, secured her and arrested all four accused.
An FIR has been registered against the four men under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abduction or enticement and gangrape. All four have been remanded to judicial custody.
Sub-Inspector Sanjay Tomar has been suspended, and departmental proceedings have been initiated against him. A report has been sent to senior CRPF authorities recommending strict disciplinary action against Inspector Mohit and Head Constable Lalaram Yadav.
Hasanpur Kotwali in-charge Amar Pal Singh stated that the farmhouse reportedly belongs to an independent Member of the Legislative Assembly from Uttarakhand. Police have questioned the property manager, and the investigation is continuing.
