Kanika Yadav, who has been allotted the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre, received the recognition during the Director’s Parade held at the Academy on October 12, 2026.
The award recognises her outstanding performance in physical training, an essential component of the rigorous training programme undertaken by IPS probationers. Physical training at SVPNPA focuses on developing endurance, strength, agility, discipline and overall fitness to prepare future police officers for the demanding responsibilities of law enforcement.
The Director’s Parade witnessed the participation of 151 officer trainees, including 16 officers from foreign countries. The ceremonial event marked an important milestone for the 78 RR batch ahead of its Passing Out Parade, also known as the Dikshant Parade.
The parade was commanded by IPS probationer Gourav Uppal of the Punjab cadre, while SVPNPA Director Sujeet Pandey inspected the parade and addressed the officer trainees.
Several other probationers were also recognised for their exceptional performance during training. Bihar-cadre IPS probationer Vijay Raghav Goyal received the Mehta Cup and the Medal for Best Probationer in Musketry, while Gujarat-cadre IPS probationer Kuhoo Garg was awarded the Medal for Best Probationer in Drill.
Pema Wangdi, an officer trainee from the Royal Bhutan Police, received the Medal for Best Gentleman Probationer in Physical Training.
The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, located in Hyderabad, is India’s premier training institution for IPS officers. Its comprehensive training programme combines academic instruction, physical conditioning, weapons training, leadership development and practical policing skills.
Kanika Yadav’s achievement highlights her dedication, physical fitness and determination throughout the demanding training programme. As an AGMUT-cadre IPS probationer, she is preparing to take on policing and administrative responsibilities across some of India’s most diverse and challenging regions.
