The North Eastern Region Trek-II (NER Trek-II), a prestigious all-India NCC trekking camp, commenced today at the 24 Assam Rifles Complex, Wokha, Nagaland, marking a historic first for the picturesque hill district. The eight-day camp, organised under the aegis of the NCC North Eastern Region Directorate (NCC NER Dte), will run from November 4 to 11, 2025, bringing together 510 cadets from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar & Jharkhand, Odisha, and the North Eastern Region.
A Milestone for Wokha and the North East
This inaugural trekking camp in Wokha celebrates adventure, cultural exchange, and national integration, while showcasing Nagaland’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cultural heritage. The event aims to foster a spirit of teamwork, discipline, and self-reliance among cadets, aligning with the NCC’s broader mission of nurturing leadership and character in the youth.

Trekking Through Nature and Culture
Over the next week, cadets will undertake day hikes to Mount Tiyi, Doyang Dam, and New Wokha Village, exploring the natural splendour of Nagaland while challenging their physical endurance and mental resilience. The participants are divided into four trekking groups, each navigating diverse terrains and experiences designed to enhance teamwork and adventure spirit.
Adding a cultural dimension, the cadets will also attend the Mini Hornbill Festival, immersing themselves in Nagaland’s traditions, music, and heritage—a living expression of India’s unity in diversity.
Flag-Off Ceremony and Encouragement
The camp was formally flagged off by Brigadier Shantanu P. Mainkar, Group Commander, NCC Group Kohima, who interacted with the cadets and urged them to make the most of this unique opportunity for personal growth and national bonding. He commended their enthusiasm and highlighted the NCC’s vital role in fostering youth empowerment and inter-state harmony.

Nurturing Leadership and Camaraderie
The NER Trek-II Camp stands as a powerful testament to the NCC’s commitment to adventure, discipline, and camaraderie, while strengthening the bonds of cultural understanding and national pride. By bringing together cadets from across India in the heart of Nagaland, the camp embodies the true spirit of “Unity and Discipline” — the guiding motto of the National Cadet Corps.
