Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kr Singh, IAS, along with Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, Director General Border Roads, visited the Kumaon Sector to review the rapid progress being made in infrastructure development across high-altitude border areas. The visit underscored the governmentโs focused efforts to strengthen operational mobility, improve logistics efficiency and reinforce readiness in some of the most demanding terrain in the Himalayan frontier.

During the review, the senior officials assessed ongoing road construction activities, the status of all-weather connectivity projects and the expansion of logistics facilities that directly support deployed troops. The development of modern roads, resilient bridges and upgraded infrastructure reflects a clear commitment to enhancing strategic mobility along vital axes where difficult geography and hostile climatic conditions pose persistent challenges.

The infrastructure push not only enhances border security but also contributes significantly to the socio-economic upliftment of remote Himalayan communities. Better connectivity enables faster access to essential services, promotes local trade and strengthens the integration of border villages into the national mainstream.
