Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS), visited the Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapatnam from December 16 to 19, 2025, to review the command’s operational preparedness and strategic infrastructure development initiatives.

During the visit, the VCNS interacted with Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Eastern Naval Command, and was briefed on the command’s current operational posture, infrastructure upgrades, and future capability enhancement plans.

As part of his engagement with frontline units, Vice Admiral Vatsayan visited INS Udaygiri and INS Sahyadri of the Eastern Fleet, popularly known as the Sunrise Fleet. He commended the ships’ companies for their high standards of professionalism, seamanship, and operational readiness.

Reaffirming the Indian Navy’s focus on combat preparedness, Vice Admiral Vatsayan emphasised the importance of indigenisation and the adoption of niche and emerging technologies to effectively address evolving security challenges in the Indian Ocean Region.
The visit underscored the Indian Navy’s continued emphasis on maintaining a robust maritime posture in the eastern seaboard and enhancing its readiness to safeguard national maritime interests.
