Commodore N Hariharan assumed charge as the 47th Commanding Officer of INS Venduruthy and Station Commander, Kochi Area, succeeding Commodore V Z Job.

Commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1996, Cmde Hariharan is an alumnus of the Naval Academy, Goa and the Command and Staff College, Indonesia. A Gunnery & Missile Warfare Specialist, he brings with him rich operational and leadership experience across a wide spectrum of naval roles.

During his distinguished career, the officer has commanded frontline and operational units including INS Cora Divh, INS Karmuk, and INS Ranvijay, gaining extensive sea command experience. His key shore and strategic appointments include serving as Defence Adviser at Muscat, Head of Training Team (Navy) at the Defence Services Staff College, and Principal Director (Training) at the Indian Naval Academy.

On assuming charge, Cmde Hariharan expressed his commitment to upholding the highest traditions of the Indian Navy and further strengthening training, administration, and operational effectiveness in the Kochi Area. His appointment underscores the Navyโs emphasis on professional excellence, leadership continuity, and sustained operational readiness at one of its most important shore establishments.
