Commodore Aashish Sharma assumed command of INS Mandovi from Commodore R B Timmapurkar on December 31, 2025, during a formal change-of-command ceremony.
A Communications and Electronic Warfare (EW) specialist, Cmde Aashish Sharma brings with him a wealth of operational and instructional experience. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and the Naval War College.

Over the course of his distinguished naval career, Cmde Sharma has held several key command and staff appointments. These include Commanding Officer of INS Konkan, Officer-in-Charge of the Signal School, Commanding Officer of INS Kattabomman, and critical staff roles as CPLO and CCO at Headquarters Western Naval Command. He has also served as Chief Staff Officer to the Flag Officer Karnataka & Naval Officer-in-Charge Karnataka, contributing significantly to operational planning and maritime communications.

On assuming command, Cmde Sharma expressed his commitment to upholding the high standards of training, discipline, and professionalism associated with INS Mandovi, a premier naval training establishment responsible for shaping future sailors of the Indian Navy.

The change of command marks a smooth leadership transition and reaffirms the Indian Navyโs focus on continuity, operational excellence, and strengthening training institutions that form the backbone of maritime capability.
