Havildar Ravindra Singh (36) of the Indian Army’s 15th Garhwal Rifles passed away after suffering a heart attack while on duty in Along (Aalo), Arunachal Pradesh, officials and family members confirmed on Sunday.
A resident of Agar village in Dashjula Patti area of Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district, Havildar Ravindra Singh was serving in challenging operational conditions when he suffered the cardiac arrest. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
According to the family, his mortal remains were scheduled to reach the Army camp in Rudraprayag by Monday night. The body was to be taken to his native village early Tuesday morning for final rites, followed by cremation with full military honours at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers in Rudraprayag.
The news of his untimely death has plunged the entire village into mourning. Agar village head Chandrakala Devi said the loss has deeply affected the community, while local social worker Pankaj Singh recalled that Havildar Ravindra Singh joined the 15th Garhwal Rifles in 2008 and was widely respected for his humble nature and warm behaviour.
District Panchayat member Sari Jaivardhan Kandpal expressed profound condolences, stating that Havildar Singh served the nation with dedication and honour. “His passing has sent a wave of grief across the district. The people are proud of this brave son of the soil, whose service to the nation will always be remembered with respect,” he said.
The Indian Army and the local community paid tribute to Havildar Ravindra Singh, honouring his service and commitment to duty while extending condolences to the bereaved family.
