Major General Inderjit Singh Bhinder formally assumed charge as Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East) during a dignified handover ceremony conducted with traditional military customs and impeccable decorum.

Major General Bhinder took over the charge from Suresh Bhambhu, YSM, SM. With this assumption of command, Maj Gen Inderjit Singh Bhinder becomes the 9th Inspector General of IGAR (East), marking a significant leadership transition in one of the force’s key operational sectors.

The ceremony underscored continuity, professionalism, and the Assam Rifles’ enduring commitment to safeguarding the Northeast, strengthening border management, and supporting peace and development initiatives. On assuming charge, Major General Bhinder acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor and emphasised sustained focus on operational readiness, troop welfare, and people-centric engagement.

The leadership change reaffirms the Assam Rifles’ role as the “Sentinels of the Northeast,” maintaining security while fostering stability and cooperation across the region.
