The High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) conducted an intensive two-week Tailor Made Course for a five-member team of the United States Air Force, imparting specialised training in high-altitude terrain under extreme weather conditions.

During the course, the visiting personnel were trained in critical high-altitude warfare and survival skills, including military skiing, mountain and glacier casualty evacuation, and avalanche rescue and recovery drills. The programme was designed to enhance operational effectiveness in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

The training also featured a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences, with both sides sharing best practices in advanced skiing techniques, combat medicine, and casualty management at high altitude. Officials said the interaction strengthened mutual understanding and reinforced military-to-military cooperation between India and the United States.

The engagement underscored HAWS’ reputation as a premier global centre for high-altitude warfare training and highlighted the growing depth of Indo–US defence cooperation in specialised operational domains.
