Lt Gen Rajiv K Sahni, AVSM, VSM, PhD, Director General of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (DG EME) and Colonel Commandant, visited the Army Base Workshop under Southern Command in Pune and carried out a comprehensive review of critical production and overhauling activities, including the overhaul of Class โAโ serials and other combat-critical equipment.

During the visit, the DG EME interacted with representatives from industry and academia and lauded their sustained collaboration with the Workshop in developing cutting-edge technologies under the Military Civil Fusion initiative. He appreciated the collective efforts aimed at leveraging combined expertise to address complex technological and operational challenges.

Emphasising the strategic importance of such synergistic partnerships, Lt Gen Sahni underlined their pivotal role in advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He highlighted that close cooperation between the Army, industry, and academia is essential for strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and accelerating the modernisation of the Indian Army.
The visit reaffirmed the Indian Armyโs commitment to innovation-driven engineering support, self-reliance, and future-ready sustainment systems to ensure sustained operational readiness across all formations.
