Maj Gen VT Mathew, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding, Karnataka & Kerala Sub Area, relinquished command on 28 February 2026 upon superannuation, bringing to a close an illustrious military career spanning nearly four decades. His proactive leadership significantly strengthened the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) outreach, ensuring improved access to healthcare facilities for veterans in Karnataka and Kerala.
