The Potential Subedar Major Course at the Junior Leaders Academy (JLA), Bareilly concluded on 17 March 2026, with participation from Subedar Majors, equivalent ranks and potential Subedar Majors from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Special Frontier Force (SFF) and Assam Rifles.
The four-week intensive professional capsule was designed to enhance leadership acumen, inter-service understanding and battlefield readiness among junior leaders.

Focus on Leadership and Operational Effectiveness
Addressing the participants, Brigadier Gaurav Kapoor, Commandant of JLA Bareilly, emphasised the critical role of Subedar Majors in building cohesive unit dynamics and ensuring operational effectiveness, especially in the context of evolving geopolitical and security challenges.

Best Student Award
Subedar Major Puran Singh of Army Air Defence was adjudged the “Overall Best Student” for his outstanding performance during the course.

Strengthening Joint Leadership
The course reinforced the importance of jointmanship, leadership development and operational preparedness, preparing junior leaders to take on greater responsibilities in modern battlefield environments.
The successful completion of the programme highlights the Indian Armed Forces’ continued focus on developing capable and future-ready leadership at all levels.
