The Surya Disposers of the Indian Army have embarked on a spirited White Water Rafting Expedition to commemorate the unit’s Platinum Jubilee, celebrating decades of distinguished service, professionalism and unwavering commitment to the nation.
The expedition was flagged off by the Chief Engineer, Headquarters Central Command, in a ceremony marked by pride, enthusiasm and soldierly resolve. The event highlighted the adventurous spirit of the Indian Army and the strong traditions of courage, endurance and teamwork that define its soldiers.
As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the Surya Disposers will undertake a challenging 145 km rafting expedition from Rudraprayag to Rishikesh. The route, passing through the mighty Ganga, will test the team’s physical stamina, mental toughness and coordination as they navigate demanding riverine conditions and Grade III rapids.
The expedition is not only a tribute to the glorious journey of the unit but also a demonstration of the Indian Army’s emphasis on adventure, discipline and resilience. White water rafting requires quick decision-making, mutual trust and strong team bonding, qualities that closely reflect the values upheld by soldiers in every operational environment.
The participants will face fast-flowing currents, unpredictable river challenges and physically demanding stretches during the expedition. Their journey from Rudraprayag to Rishikesh is expected to push their limits while showcasing their confidence, courage and determination in the face of adversity.

The Surya Disposers have long been known for their commitment to excellence and service. This expedition adds another proud chapter to their legacy, bringing together the spirit of adventure and the ethos of soldiering. It also serves as a reminder of the Indian Army’s continuous efforts to promote physical fitness, leadership and operational readiness through challenging adventure activities.
The expedition reflects the motto of the unit, “Dridhta se Nipunta,” meaning “Excellence through Determination.” Through this journey, the Surya Disposers aim to inspire soldiers and citizens alike by displaying grit, resilience and professionalism.
As the team rides the rapids of the Ganga, the expedition stands as a symbol of courage and unity. It celebrates not only the Platinum Jubilee of the Surya Disposers but also the indomitable spirit of Indian Army soldiers who continue to take on every challenge with confidence, discipline and determination.
