Officer Cadets from the Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, visited the School of Artillery on 22 June 2026 as part of their professional military education and orientation programme.
The visit was aimed at providing future officers with firsthand exposure to the professionalism, operational capabilities and technological advancements of the Regiment of Artillery, one of the Indian Army’s principal combat arms.

During the visit, the cadets were briefed on recently inducted niche technologies and a range of in-service artillery weapon systems currently employed by the Indian Army. The sessions highlighted the evolving role of artillery in modern warfare and the increasing importance of technology-driven capabilities on the battlefield.
Senior instructors and officers explained how advanced artillery systems have influenced recent global conflicts, providing the cadets with valuable insights into contemporary combat operations, precision engagement and battlefield support functions.
A major highlight of the visit was a live firing demonstration, which enabled the cadets to observe the operational employment of artillery systems and gain a practical understanding of firepower application in military operations.

The demonstration showcased the accuracy, effectiveness and destructive potential of modern artillery platforms, reinforcing the critical role played by the Regiment of Artillery in supporting combat operations across diverse operational environments.
Officials noted that such visits bridge the gap between classroom instruction and field realities, allowing cadets to better understand the integration of technology, firepower and tactical planning in modern warfare.
The interaction also provided an opportunity for the cadets to engage with artillery professionals and gain insights into the operational ethos, traditions and evolving capabilities of the Regiment of Artillery.
The visit concluded with the cadets expressing appreciation for the valuable exposure, which enhanced their understanding of contemporary military operations and the growing significance of advanced weapon systems in future battlefields.

The programme forms part of the Indian Army’s efforts to prepare future leaders through comprehensive exposure to various arms and services, ensuring they are equipped to lead effectively in an increasingly technology-driven operational environment.
