Lieutenant General Ajay Kumar, AVSM, VSM, assumed the appointment of Chief of Staff, Southern Command, marking a significant leadership transition at one of the Indian Army’s principal operational commands.
Following the assumption of charge, Lt Gen Ajay Kumar laid a wreath at the Southern Command War Memorial in Pune and paid homage to the Bravehearts whose courage, valour and supreme sacrifice continue to inspire generations of soldiers.
The solemn ceremony reflected the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to honouring its fallen heroes while reinforcing the core values of duty, honour and selfless service.
As the new Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Ajay Kumar will play a key role in supporting the operational, administrative and strategic responsibilities of Southern Command, contributing to enhanced operational readiness and the Command’s continued commitment to safeguarding national security.
