Major General Sarabjit Singh Bakshi, SM, VSM, Commandant of the NCC Officers Training Academy (OTA), Kamptee, visited the Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force at Nagpur, where he called on Air Marshal Ajay Kumar Pan, AVSM, VSM, Senior Air Staff Officer (SMSO), Maintenance Command.
The visit served as an important platform for strengthening the longstanding relationship between the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the Indian Air Force. During the interaction, the two senior officers exchanged views on a range of matters of mutual interest, focusing on enhancing cooperation in areas related to training, leadership development and youth engagement.
Discussions also centred on the shared objective of nurturing disciplined, motivated and nationally conscious youth through the NCC, while leveraging the expertise and operational experience of the Indian Air Force to enrich cadet training and exposure. Both leaders acknowledged the important role played by the NCC in preparing young citizens for leadership roles and inspiring many to pursue careers in the Armed Forces.
The meeting highlighted the significance of sustained interaction between military training institutions and operational commands in promoting the exchange of ideas, best practices and institutional knowledge. Such engagements contribute to improving the quality of training imparted to NCC cadets and Associate NCC Officers while strengthening inter-service understanding.
Major General Bakshi also gained insights into the functioning and responsibilities of the Indian Air Force’s Maintenance Command, which plays a critical role in ensuring the serviceability, maintenance and logistical support of the Air Force’s aircraft, weapon systems and equipment, thereby sustaining operational readiness across the force.
The visit reaffirmed the commitment of both the NCC Officers Training Academy and the Indian Air Force to fostering closer institutional cooperation in support of national development, leadership training and military preparedness. It also underscored the enduring partnership between the NCC and the Indian Air Force in shaping future leaders imbued with the values of discipline, service, professionalism and patriotism.
