The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continuing emphasis on environmental conservation alongside its operational responsibilities. Through the plantation drive, the military station aims to create a greener ecosystem while contributing to a healthier and more sustainable environment for future generations.

The campaign was also conducted in the spirit of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, an initiative that encourages people to plant trees as a tribute to motherhood and to Mother Earth. Each sapling planted during the drive symbolised both environmental responsibility and gratitude towards nature.

A key aspect of the initiative is that the effort extends beyond merely planting trees. Personnel at Hisar Military Station have pledged to adopt, protect and nurture every sapling until it reaches full growth.

This focus on long-term care is intended to ensure a high survival rate and create a lasting green cover rather than limiting the activity to a one-day plantation exercise.

Mission Falvan, meaning “Fruit for All”, places additional emphasis on planting fruit-bearing trees that can provide ecological as well as community benefits over time. Such plantations can contribute to improving local biodiversity, reducing soil erosion, providing shade and supporting birds and other wildlife.

The plantation drive is also expected to help improve the micro-environment within and around the military station by increasing vegetation cover and contributing to better air quality.

Environmental initiatives at military establishments have increasingly become part of broader sustainability efforts aimed at conserving natural resources, reducing ecological impact and developing greener cantonments and stations.

By integrating plantation activities with long-term maintenance, Hisar Military Station has sought to establish a model in which environmental responsibility becomes an ongoing commitment rather than a symbolic exercise.

The participation of military personnel also highlights the role of the Armed Forces in supporting national environmental campaigns and encouraging greater awareness about climate resilience, afforestation and conservation.

The pledge to nurture all 5,000 saplings until maturity is particularly significant, as the success of plantation drives depends heavily on post-plantation care, including watering, protection and regular monitoring.

The initiative reinforces the message that environmental conservation requires sustained effort and collective participation.

With the plantation of 5,000 trees under Mission Falvan, Hisar Military Station has taken a significant step towards creating a greener landscape while contributing to the larger objective of environmental sustainability.

The campaign carries a simple yet powerful message: planting a tree is not only an act of hope for the present, but an investment in the future for generations to come.
