New Delhi: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed with the Delhi Metro has been suspended with immediate effect after a woman accused him of secretly photographing her inside a metro coach, triggering a heated confrontation with passengers that was captured on video and went viral on Sunday.
The incident occurred late on Saturday night (August 15, 2026) near AIIMS Metro Station on the Yellow Line. According to accounts from passengers and police sources, the woman confronted the uniformed CISF personnel after suspecting he was taking pictures of her without consent. He initially denied the allegation. However, when passengers insisted he open his phone’s photo gallery, images of the woman were allegedly found, escalating the situation.
In the viral video, the woman and other commuters are seen surrounding the personnel and demanding that the photographs be deleted. The woman can be heard saying, “What is this? Delete my photos.” Chaos followed as passengers attempted to snatch the phone while the personnel resisted and tried to move away, leading to a scuffle inside the coach.
Some passengers later alleged that the CISF personnel took out his service pistol and pointed it towards them during the confrontation or while exiting onto the platform. Metro Police sources have denied this claim, stating that no such incident involving a weapon took place.
A PCR call was received by Metro Police around 12:40 am on Sunday. A police team reached the spot. The woman, however, did not file a formal complaint. Police informed CISF authorities about the allegations made by the woman and other passengers.
CISF’s response
The CISF unit responsible for Delhi Metro security issued an official statement on X: “A matter has been reported regarding the alleged misconduct by a CISF personnel towards a female passenger in a metro train. The CISF has viewed this with utmost seriousness at the highest levels. The concerned personnel has been placed under suspension with immediate effect, and a detailed inquiry has been ordered. Further appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.”
The force emphasised that the matter is being treated with seriousness at the highest levels.
Context and concerns
The episode has raised questions about passenger safety and the conduct of security personnel tasked with protecting women and other commuters in the Delhi Metro system. CISF personnel are responsible for security across the DMRC network, and incidents involving alleged misuse of authority or privacy violations tend to attract significant public attention, particularly when captured on video.
While the woman chose not to pursue a formal police complaint, the internal departmental inquiry ordered by CISF is expected to examine the phone gallery evidence, CCTV footage from the coach and station, and statements from passengers present during the confrontation.
As of Sunday evening, no further details on the identity of the suspended personnel or the status of the inquiry had been made public. The case remains under investigation by CISF, with Metro Police having recorded the matter for their records after the PCR call.
