Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar, AVSM, VSM, Army Commander, Southern Command, visited Armoured Regiments of the Indian Army deployed in Eastern Ladakh in his capacity as the Colonel of the Regiment.
During the visit, the Army Commander reviewed the professional standards, operational preparedness and evolving capabilities of the Armoured Regiments operating in the demanding high-altitude environment.
Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar assessed the formations’ preparedness and their ability to maintain a high state of operational readiness under challenging terrain and climatic conditions. The review also focused on the efforts being undertaken to enhance capabilities and adapt to the changing character of warfare.
A key focus of the visit was the infusion of technology into the Armoured Regiments. The Army Commander appreciated the emphasis being placed on adopting modern technologies and improving operational capabilities to meet emerging requirements on the battlefield.
The high-altitude environment of Eastern Ladakh presents unique operational challenges, requiring sustained preparedness, resilience, mobility and adaptability. The visit provided an opportunity to assess how the Armoured Regiments are maintaining their effectiveness while operating in such demanding conditions.
Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar also interacted with officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and troops during the visit. His interaction reflected warmth and encouragement, while reinforcing the importance of professionalism, discipline and dedication to duty.
The Army Commander motivated all ranks to continue maintaining high standards of operational readiness and to remain focused on capability enhancement and technology absorption.
As Colonel of the Regiment, his interaction with the personnel also highlighted the importance of preserving the proud traditions, ethos and legacy of the Armoured Corps while simultaneously preparing for the demands of future warfare.
The visit reaffirmed the Indian Army’s focus on combining operational experience, technological advancement and professional excellence to ensure that its armoured formations remain agile, capable and mission-ready in challenging operational environments.
