Major General Vivek Tyagi, Additional Director General (ADG), NCC Maharashtra, met Nayana Gunde, IAS, Divisional Commissioner of Amravati Division, at NCC Group Headquarters Amravati to discuss measures aimed at expanding training, skilling and development opportunities for National Cadet Corps cadets across the region.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the NCC and the civil administration to develop future-ready, skilled and empowered youth, with particular attention to cadets from remote and tribal areas.
A key issue highlighted during the meeting was the requirement for dedicated training areas for conducting NCC camps. The two sides also discussed identifying suitable assets for establishing an NCC Academy for the Vidarbha region, which could provide improved infrastructure and training opportunities for cadets.
The Divisional Commissioner assured priority follow-up on matters related to the proposed training areas and identification of suitable assets for the NCC Academy.
Another important area of discussion was integrating NCC cadets, particularly those belonging to remote and tribal communities, with skill-development and youth-oriented programmes sponsored by the Maharashtra government.
Such integration could provide cadets with greater exposure to vocational skills, technology, innovation and employability opportunities alongside the leadership, discipline and character-building training traditionally offered through the NCC.
The interaction reflected a shared commitment between NCC Maharashtra and the Amravati civil administration to deepen institutional cooperation and ensure that cadets receive greater access to training infrastructure and emerging opportunities.
The proposed initiatives, particularly dedicated NCC training facilities and an NCC Academy for Vidarbha, could further strengthen the NCC ecosystem in the region while extending its benefits to young people from areas where access to specialised training and career-development opportunities can be limited.
