New Delhi, September 3, 2026: Senior Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer Himanshu Pandey has been promoted from the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to Inspector General (IG), marking an important milestone in his career with the force.
A formal pipping ceremony was held to mark his elevation to the senior leadership rank. During the ceremony, the insignia of Inspector General was conferred upon Pandey in recognition of his progression to higher responsibilities within the CISF.
The Director General of CISF congratulated Inspector General Himanshu Pandey on his promotion and commended him for his exemplary leadership, professionalism and steadfast commitment to the organisation.

The CISF leadership also extended its best wishes to the newly promoted Inspector General for continued success and impactful leadership in his new role.
As an Inspector General, Pandey will be entrusted with greater command, administrative and operational responsibilities within the force. Officers at the IG level play a significant role in overseeing major CISF formations and sectors and in implementing operational and administrative policies across units under their jurisdiction.

The promotion reflects Pandey’s progression through the senior command structure of the CISF and recognises his contribution and leadership as a Deputy Inspector General.
The Central Industrial Security Force is one of India’s Central Armed Police Forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs. It is responsible for providing security to critical infrastructure and strategic establishments across the country, including airports, ports, Delhi Metro, government buildings, industrial installations and other vital facilities.

With his elevation to the rank of Inspector General, Himanshu Pandey now takes on a broader leadership role as the CISF continues to strengthen the security of critical national infrastructure across India.
