Group Captain Preeti Chopra has formally assumed charge as the Principal of Sainik School Sujanpur Tira in Himachal Pradesh, beginning a new chapter of leadership at the prestigious institution. She took over as Principal on September 3, 2026, bringing with her more than two decades of experience in the Indian Air Force and a strong background in education, training and administration.
Group Captain Preeti Chopra was commissioned into the Education Branch of the Indian Air Force in June 2003. During her career spanning over 23 years, she has held several important instructional and staff appointments, gaining extensive experience in the field of education.
Her appointment is expected to further strengthen the academic and overall training environment at Sainik School Sujanpur Tira. As Principal, her key focus will be on the holistic development of cadets, combining academic excellence with discipline, leadership, character building and physical development.
To mark the occasion, a wreath-laying ceremony was conducted at the school’s Veer Smarak. Group Captain Chopra paid tribute to the brave personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
Established in 1978, Sainik School Sujanpur Tira is the only Sainik School in Himachal Pradesh. Over the decades, the institution has built a strong reputation for preparing young cadets for careers in the Armed Forces and has sent a significant number of its students to the National Defence Academy (NDA).
