Forty students from MSAGS Sopore in Kashmir visited the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, on September 19, 2026, under the aegis of Chinar Corps, gaining first-hand exposure to the ethos, values, training and leadership principles of the Indian Army.
The visit provided the students with an opportunity to observe the environment of one of the Indian Army’s premier training institutions and gain a closer understanding of the qualities associated with military service.
The interaction was aimed at inspiring young minds, broadening their horizons and providing them with an insight into the dedication and commitment expected from men and women in uniform.
Exposure to military institutions can offer students a practical understanding of values such as discipline, leadership, teamwork and responsibility. For the visiting students from Sopore, the IMA visit provided an opportunity to connect these values with the experiences and responsibilities associated with service in the Armed Forces.
The visit was conducted as part of the Indian Army’s engagement with the youth of Kashmir. Through such initiatives, the Army seeks to provide students with opportunities to interact with military institutions and gain exposure to different educational, professional and leadership environments.
The students’ visit to the IMA also highlighted the role of youth-oriented outreach in strengthening understanding between communities and the Armed Forces.
