Udhampur, September 23, 2026: Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh visited Headquarters Northern Command in Udhampur, where he reviewed the prevailing operational environment and preparedness of the Armed Forces in the strategically important Northern Command theatre.
During the visit, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh was briefed by Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, on key operational dynamics and the preparedness of formations operating under the Command. The briefing also covered ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening inter-service coordination for the effective conduct of multi-domain operations.
The Chief of the Air Staff expressed confidence in the operational capabilities of the forces and highlighted the close coordination between the Indian Army’s Northern Command and the Indian Air Force’s Western Air Command.
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh particularly commended the jointness and synergy demonstrated by the two Commands across different echelons, ranging from the strategic level to tactical formations. He observed that this level of integration provides an important model for the conduct of future multi-domain operations.
The visit underscored the Armed Forces’ continuing emphasis on joint planning, interoperability and coordinated execution as modern military operations increasingly require capabilities across multiple domains.
