The Indian Army has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) to indigenise critical modules of weapon systems, in alignment with the JAI se VIJAY mission.
The initiative is aimed at enhancing indigenous repair and sustenance capabilities for critical weapon system modules and reducing dependence on imported spares. The collaboration will also seek to mitigate obsolescence and strengthen the operational readiness of the Indian Army.
Under the MoU, the Indian Army and IIT Madras will work together towards the indigenisation of critical modules of weapon systems. The initiative is focused on developing indigenous capabilities in areas where dependence on imported spares can affect repair and sustenance requirements.
