Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth inaugurated the Mission Autonomy Lab and Sensor-Shooter Integration Lab at the Directorate General of Information Systems (DGIS), marking an initiative aimed at strengthening the Indian Army’s ability to test, integrate and accelerate emerging technologies for operational applications.
The newly inaugurated laboratories are focused on advancing autonomy, data-centricity and sensor-to-shooter integration. The facilities are intended to support the transition of emerging technologies from laboratory environments into battlefield-ready capabilities.

The Mission Autonomy Lab will contribute to the Army’s efforts in the area of autonomy, while the Sensor-Shooter Integration Lab will focus on integrating sensors and shooters to improve the transition from information and detection to operational capability.
The initiative is aimed at enabling the Indian Army to test and integrate emerging technologies while accelerating their movement from development and experimentation towards battlefield application.
During the inauguration, General Dhiraj Seth reiterated the vision of VIJAY and emphasised innovation, integration and Atmanirbharta as key elements for building an agile, technology-enabled and future-ready force.

The focus on data-centricity and sensor-to-shooter integration reflects the Army’s emphasis on translating technological developments into operational capabilities. The labs are intended to provide an environment where emerging technologies can be tested, integrated and developed for battlefield requirements.
The facilities will also support efforts to strengthen the linkage between technology and operational capability. By focusing on autonomy and integration, the initiative seeks to accelerate the conversion of emerging technologies into capabilities that can provide operational advantage.

The inauguration of the two laboratories marks another step in the Indian Army’s efforts to strengthen technology-driven capability development. The emphasis remains on moving from technology to capability and subsequently from capability to combat advantage.
