Hyderabad, 14 October 2026: Sigma Advanced Systems Limited (SASL) has signed an exclusive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Munitions India Limited (MIL), a defence public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Defence, for the integration, indigenous manufacturing and supply of 155 mm artillery course-correction fuzes (CCF), along with associated components, subsystems and technologies.
The collaboration is aimed at developing next-generation indigenous capabilities in precision-guided artillery ammunition and supporting ongoing critical programmes of the Indian Armed Forces through technology development, integration and localisation. It aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat priorities, with emphasis on building domestic expertise in strategically important defence technologies.
Course-correction technology enables artillery projectiles to make in-flight trajectory adjustments, thereby improving accuracy and operational effectiveness. Establishing indigenous capabilities in this segment is expected to strengthen India’s defence technology ecosystem and reduce dependence on imported solutions.
Under the MoU, Sigma will facilitate technology transfer, qualification, local manufacturing and integration of advanced course-correction solutions in India. The programme will leverage the Course Correction Guidance Kit, described by the company as a mature solution currently used by international customers.
Sunil Kalidindi, Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Advanced Systems, stated: “The collaboration with Munitions India Limited marks an important step in advancing indigenous precision-guided artillery capabilities in India. By bringing proven course correction guidance technology with MIL’s established ammunition manufacturing capabilities and Sigma’s engineering and programme execution strengths, we aim to build meaningful domestic capabilities in a strategically important defence segment.
This initiative reflects our commitment to going beyond localisation towards developing a stronger indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem, in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. We see this collaboration as an opportunity to contribute to the evolving requirements of the Indian Armed Forces while strengthening India’s position as a centre for advanced defence manufacturing.”
The partnership combines Sigma’s Indian engineering and programme execution capabilities and indigenously developed technology with MIL’s established ammunition manufacturing infrastructure. It is intended to create a domestic industrial and engineering framework for next-generation course-correction solutions, with opportunities for progressive enhancement of indigenous content, technical expertise and manufacturing capability.
The initiative also seeks to position Sigma further up the defence value chain, moving from precision engineering and subsystem manufacturing towards the development and integration of advanced defence systems.
