The 2011-batch AGMUT-cadre IPS officer has been appointed on deputation basis in the pay and rank of DIG for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas conveyed the competent authority’s approval through letter No. L-11015/1/2013-GP-II (E:37943) dated 8 October 2026. Cadre authorities have been directed to relieve her immediately so that she can join the new assignment.
Godara made history in July 2023 when she became the first woman IPS officer to be posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Delhi Police’s Special Cell, the force’s counter-intelligence and counter-terrorism unit. The posting followed her transfer from Puducherry, where she had served as SSP (Headquarters) and handled key responsibilities including crime-related assignments. Contemporary reports described the move as a first for the unit.
Her subsequent postings in Delhi included Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell/Headquarters) and Additional CP/Director (Operations) at DPHCL. In 2025 she was among the officers awarded the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak in the field of Special Operations. She belongs to the AGMUT cadre, hails from Rajasthan, holds an MBA, and joined the IPS on 29 August 2011.
The Advisor (Security) role at GAIL, a major public-sector undertaking under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, involves oversight of the organisation’s security architecture, including physical asset protection, cyber security, and related measures. The post has previously been held by IPS officers on deputation. Godara’s appointment places an officer with specialised counter-intelligence experience in a position responsible for safeguarding critical energy infrastructure.
The development was reported on 13–14 October 2026 by multiple bureaucracy-tracking platforms. As of the latest available orders, she is to be relieved promptly to assume charge at GAIL.
