New Delhi, October 22, 2026: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is set to recruit approximately 450 sportspersons against vacant posts. The force is simultaneously amending its recruitment rules to enable sports quota appointments at the Constable, Head Constable and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) levels. The initiative aims to strengthen CISF sports teams and enhance performance in national and international competitions.
A CISF spokesperson stated: “Recruitment rules are being amended to allow sports recruitment at Constable, Head Constable and Assistant Sub-Inspector levels. Recruitment of about 450 sportspersons against vacant posts will begin soon.”
The move forms part of a broader effort by the force, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, to expand sports infrastructure, provide financial incentives to athletes and coaches, and improve training facilities. These steps are intended to encourage wider participation and raise medal prospects at major events including the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and World Police and Fire Games.
Infrastructure development is progressing at multiple locations. An athletics track and other facilities have been developed at the National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) in Hyderabad and the Subsidiary Training Centre (SSG) in Greater Noida. Sports infrastructure is also being built at the CISF Women Battalion in Nuh, Haryana.
In a significant step, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) is preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Regional Sports Centre at the CISF’s Rajaditya Cholan Regional Training Centre (RCRTC) in Thakkolam. The proposed centre will support training in badminton, tennis, fencing and cycling, among other disciplines.
The announcements were made by CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan during a meeting with the force’s sportspersons who competed in national and international events this year. Five CISF athletes represented India at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan (2026). Head Constable Ritu secured a gold medal as a member of the Indian women’s kabaddi team.
CISF has recorded improved results at the All India Police Sports Clusters. Medals across the five clusters rose from 120 in 2025–26 (47 gold, 30 silver, 43 bronze) to 169 in 2026–27 (64 gold, 46 silver, 59 bronze). Team trophies doubled from 10 (6 men’s, 4 women’s) to 20 (10 men’s, 10 women’s). Cash awards of approximately ₹97 lakh were distributed to medal-winning sportspersons and coaches for 2025–26.
A total of 180 sportspersons and coaches will receive the Director General’s Disc, while 161 personnel will receive DG’s Commendation Certificates. Nine unit commanders will also be honoured for their contribution to sports.
Additional support measures include special increments granted to 18 sportspersons in 2026 (five for international-level and 13 for national-level achievements). Approximately ₹2 crore has been paid towards off-season special diet allowances for 2026–27, with around ₹4 crore for in-season diets under process. Common sports kits worth about ₹76 lakh have been provided to Central Sports Teams, and ₹71 lakh has been transferred directly to athletes for personal kits.
Officials stated that the combined measures recruitment against vacant posts, infrastructure upgrades, nutritional and equipment support, and recognition of achievements are designed to raise training standards and create greater opportunities for CISF personnel to excel in competitive sports. The force continues to align these efforts with national objectives of improving India’s performance at major international sporting events.
