AÂ Sub lieutenant of the Indian Navy was killed after he accidentally fired his 9mm pistol onboard INS Kuthar, a Khukri-class corvette, on 11 October.
24-year-old, Sub Lt Tejveer Singh of INS Kuthar, hailing from Haryana, was posted on INS Kuthar – a war ship. The incident took place around 2:30 pm.
He was immediately shifted to the Naval Hospital INHS Kalyani where he died, the sources said.
The officer was unmarried and was raised by his uncle. His family has been informed of the incident.
A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident.–with agency inputs
