Leading his team in Haji Nanka village of Kupwara, they acted on intelligence reports of terrorists in the area. It was during this operation that Lt Col Natt showcased extraordinary bravery. While attempting to save three of his men from direct gunfire, he was struck by a bullet to his jaw. Despite his severe injury, he continued to engage the enemy, ensuring the terrorist was neutralized. This act of bravery earned him the prestigious Sena Medal (Gallantry).

The bullet injury led to Lt Col Natt falling into a coma. His subsequent years were spent in the Military Hospital in Jalandhar, where he fought a different kind of battle – one for life.
