New Delhi: In a significant showcase of maritime prowess, the Indian Navy is preparing to celebrate Navy Day on December 4 by conducting a grand demonstration of its operational capabilities at the picturesque Blue Flag Beach in Puri, Odisha. The event has received the endorsement of President Droupadi Murmu, who is set to attend as the chief guest, according to a statement from a Navy spokesperson.
The operational demonstration, referred to as โOp Demo 2024,โ aims to highlight the Indian Navyโs diverse competencies while fostering maritime awareness among the populace and paying tribute to Indiaโs rich maritime heritage. The choice of Puri, with its scenic beaches and cultural significance, emphasizes the intrinsic connection between the Indian Navy and the coastal legacy of Odisha. Notably, Puriโs Blue Flag Beach designation, awarded a few years ago, promotes an eco-tourism model that ensures clean and hygienic conditions for beachgoers, along with a commitment to sustainable development practices.
As part of the preparations for the event, the Indian Navy is coordinating closely with the Odisha government and local authorities to facilitate a smooth execution. Attendees can expect designated seating arrangements for local residents and tourists, enabling them to view the live demonstration from the beach. Additionally, the Indian Navy is making strides to reach an even broader audience by broadcasting the event live on national television and streaming it through its YouTube channel.
In a reflection of her continued support for the naval forces, President Murmu had previously observed a similar operational demonstration in 2022, held in Visakhapatnam. The upcoming event in Puri not only underscores the Navyโs commitment to enhancing public engagement but also serves as a reminder of Indiaโs dedication to bolstering its maritime capabilities in a rapidly changing global landscape.
