Indian Army and C-DAC Form Centre of Excellence for Advanced Defence Technologies

In a significant move toward enhancing India’s defense capabilities through advanced technologies, the Indian Army has partnered with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) in Mhow. The formalization of this strategic partnership was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at fostering indigenous innovations in several cutting-edge domains, including Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity, Wireless Communication, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and more.

The CoE at MCTE is envisioned as a hub for research and development specifically tailored for military applications. The collaboration is expected to accelerate advancements in technology while addressing critical operational challenges faced by defense forces. Key objectives outlined within the MoU include the development and testing of field-ready prototypes in various technology verticals and the organization of workshops and executive training programs to enhance skills within the military and civilian sectors.

Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar from the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) praised the establishment of the CoE, envisioning it as a platform that would spearhead applied research, facilitating collaboration between MCTE, C-DAC, and other affiliated MeitY organizations. The CoE aims not only to advance military technology but also to strengthen the relationship between academic institutions and defense organizations, promoting shared knowledge and resource pooling for effective problem-solving.

He reiterated the commitment to strengthening India’s strategic capabilities through innovation and effective application of technology.

The formation of the CoE showcases the Indian Army’s proactive approach in adopting and integrating futuristic technologies, setting a new benchmark for military-academic collaborations that could potentially pave the way for transformative advancements in defense operations and national security.
