During his visit, Lt Gen Seth engaged with senior commanders to review evolving war-fighting concepts tailored specifically for desert operations. He emphasized the effective use of force multipliers—tools and strategies designed to enhance combat effectiveness—and highlighted the critical role of innovation and technological integration in modern warfare. Urging all ranks to pursue excellence and adaptability, Seth stressed the importance of staying ahead of emerging security challenges in the desert regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat, which fall under the Corps’ area of responsibility.

The Konark Corps, a key formation under the Pune-based Southern Command, was established on February 26, 1987, during the volatile days of Operation Trident. Headquartered in Jodhpur, the Corps is tasked with protecting India’s desert sectors and adopted the Konark Sun Temple as its formation insignia, symbolizing its strategic role in the sun-scorched region. The Southern Command, one of the Indian Army’s oldest field formations, continues to prioritize operational preparedness and technological advancement to safeguard the nation’s borders.
